The events included:
Mum Meets – Relaxation Afternoon - which included a sound bath, yoga instruction and mindfulness session
Mum Meets – Craft & Create - allowing participants to participate in 2 different art/craft workshops of their choice and learn new/develop skills
Mum Meets - Dance Workshop - an evening with a local dance instructor who worked with the group tolearn, rehearse and perform a full choreography incorporating various dance styles.
Testimonials
“It felt like the most amazing, relaxing and safe environment. I made meaningful connections for the first time in years!”
“Amazing to bond with other mums! Very needed!”
“Absolutely loved both workshops and bonding with ladies I’ve never met.”
The funding supports our events, providing food and materials and making sure our workshop leaders were being paid professional rates, like they would for anything else. And everyone we’ve worked with have also been mums.
One of the big challenges for people living in Moray is that it’s a rural area. We’ve had people from Aberlour, Rothes, Forres, Duffus, Burghead, Lossie and Hopeman. Even Nairn. We have people here from Buckie, where there are limited resources for parents and children. For mums it’s about getting childcare. And when you’re with your kids you don’t always get chance to talk. When you don’t have your kids, you get to unwind and chat, and just have a bit of headspace.
Melissa MacDonald, founder, Mums Days
I moved to the area a few months ago, and Mums Day was the first event I went to with my kids, a baby and toddler.
I was really drawn to it because it was such an open and inviting group. And it’s great because they also have family days and just mum’s events. It’s a chance to meet with other mums without being distracted by kids. Doing something different and trying new things. We’re thinking about developing a walking, running group as well. Using your brain and body in different ways, as well as social connection.
